JOBS ARE ESSENTIAL
The Missouri Transportation Alliance will propose a comprehensive transportation plan that will grow Missouri’s transportation infrastructure to sustain existing businesses and create new small businesses, the backbone of Missouri’s economy and the engine for Missouri’s economic recovery.
- Investing in Missouri’s transportation infrastructure will have an immediate and powerful impact on the economy in every region of the state creating thousands of immediate construction jobs and thousands of new, good paying jobs.
- Better infrastructure will make Missouri much more competitive in the global marketplace to attract new businesses looking for new locations to expand providing new jobs and new opportunities.
- Maintaining and rebuilding inadequate infrastructure will meet the long-term infrastructure needs necessary for small businesses and communities to grow and create good paying jobs and great places to live.
- Missouri continues to be among the states with the biggest losses in manufacturing and construction jobs. This is unacceptable. Smart investment in the state’s transportation infrastructure can make Missouri competitive again and get people back to work.
- Increased funding for public transit, buses, OATS and rural transit providers will provide safer access to jobs, healthcare and other essential services for the elderly, people with disabilities and low-income Missourians.
- Increasing transportation funding can help make Missouri a shipping hub due to its central location and combination of both inland and river ports and rail terminals.
