MISSION

The Missouri Transportation Alliance (MoTA) is a nonpartisan, citizen-led group of transportation stakeholders, first responders, small businesses, cities and counties and community leaders who are committed to delivering a smart, sustainable long-term statewide transportation plan that will provide greater safety to Missouri’s families and spur the economy.

THE ROAD WE’VE TRAVELED

The Missouri Transportation Alliance is committed to delivering a smart, sustainable long-term statewide transportation plan that will provide greater safety to Missouri’s families and spur the economy. To do nothing will put the safety of Missouri families at risk and threaten the state’s economy.

• Over the past 18 months, the Alliance conducted more than 200 public meetings and gathered input from all over the state to help guide the creation of a comprehensive transportation funding plan based on what Missourians need to make their travel safe and to create more jobs for them and their families.

  WHAT WE LEARNED

  • Missourians understand the safety risks of not properly maintaining our roads and bridges. Their families depend on our roads and bridges and safety is non-negotiable.
  • Missourians are struggling in this economy. They understand that a comprehensive transportation plan will have the immediate benefit of adding jobs throughout the state and the long-term benefit of creating the infrastructure for growth and attracting new businesses and jobs.
  • Missourians are tired of the waste and misappropriation of taxpayer dollars, creating deep distrust of government at all levels. But they trust MoDOT more than other state agencies and recognize its unique record in delivering projects on time and on budget. Taxpayers will demand strict accountability and transparency so they can be confident every dollar is being spent appropriately.

THE PATH FORWARD

The future for Missouri is dependent on a transportation system that delivers safety and creates jobs. At no point in Missouri’s recent history has the opportunity to move the state forward been so great and the consequences for failing to act so disastrous to both the security of our citizens and the economic fortunes of Missouri’s hard-working families. With a clear emphasis on making transportation safer and investing in infrastructure that will create jobs and economic opportunities, the Alliance can provide a roadmap for the State’s future success and security.
